Once again

Here I am ONCE again on my WW journey! I remember the first time, the newlywed phase, the "Nothing is going to stop me " phase!
Why is it so hard to grab that again? On my journey I am learning several things! Love me for me where I am at . Love me in a size 14, love me more in a size 12, learn to be happy with every step and know I can do this!
WILLPOWER HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS, YOU HAVE TO HAVE WANTPOWER

Do I have it? This time around I feel like I do ... 2 weeks into this, step by step, meal by meal, and so far I still feel the Newlywed phase!
NOW to get into smaller jeans! :) Those Levi's are just calling my name!

Just me

Thanks Breanna for helping me get on the blog. Now one night I will have husband help me post a picture or maybe I will send it to you for posting. I have been WW member since April 21, 2006 and very happy to be part of the Oregon Board. Lets see if I can post this now. :)

Hi from Gretchen

Here are a couple of pictures taken of me this last summer (2006) - they are part of what propelled me into WW. I have never had a weight problem until after I turned 40, but since then, the weight has been slowly creeping up. I finally got tired of it and decided that I was going to head the opposite direction before my 50th birthday.

This first before picture is taken near the ocean at Depoe Bay. Nice background, but I really didn't like the chunky person in the picture.

The second picture is from my family gathering in August- we were doing a high-ropes course element (very scary, BTW) and my brother snapped this shot of me in all my spare-tire glory. It was the final straw.

I am 20 pounds lighter now, but have no pictures to prove it. Maybe when I reach goal (another 10 pounds), someone will see fit to snap a photo!

Summer of 06 (post move/pre WW)

Here is a photo of me at one of my DH's bike races in Eugene this summer. This is not a good photo of me, but it shows how chunky I'd become. Yikes! I started WW seriously on August 1, and lost 12 pounds between then & November. Over the Christmas holiday, I gained back a few of those pounds, but I am determined to lose more and get back to my old self again -- FIT!

Jody's Before and After Photos

The first photo was taken at our daughter Jessica's wedding in July 2004. The second was taken in December 2006 on our cruise. I dressed in such loose clothes before it is a bit hard to tell there is a 40 pound difference! I like that I can even see a little muscle in my forearm in the after photo though!

Jody's Story

I have struggled for much of my adult life with weight and yo-yo'ed too much. My oldest daughter, Kerry, was diagnosed with a rare cancer in 2000 at age 23 and after three years of intense treatment Kerry passed away in May of 2003. As a result of stress, too much sitting (many hospital stays, etc.) I was at an all time high of 196 pounds by September 2004. I decided that for my own health both physical and emotional I needed to do "something" about it that would be lifelong and not a short term "fix". So I joined WW in September of 2004. I lost most of my weight the first 6 months but it took a little over a full year to get to goal of 155 which I made the day before Thanksgiving in 2005. Over the holidays in 2005 I gained a bit so it took a little while to get to Lifetime which I reached in February 2006. Since then I had taken off another 5 or so pounds but have concentrated on toning up and increasing my activity level. I dance most every noon hour, and also ride my bike when the weather cooperates, and bow flex for strength training (not enough). A cruise in early December and the holidays resulted in a gain and as of Monday 1/2/07 I weighed 163.2. I plan to lose it all and be at my goal of being in the 140's (even if it is 149) by my birthday in March. I hope to be well on my way by our get together on 1/27/07.
My other goals for this year are to concentrate on upper arms (bow flex), organize my house, take the bus more and count steps.

I'm here in the new year!

Well I made it to the blog. Since we are telling our WW story, here's mine...I started WW'rs in the beginning of Oct 2006. I had watched a friend of mine who had joined in February, loose over 50 pounds and she looked awesome. After we had talked for a time, and spending our vacations together at our horse camp(was planned long before to be a camp together) and watching her and what she did for her food choices and all I figured I could do the same. I had already lost 15 lbs just moving off the mountain I lived on in McMinnville and working more at work and outside, so I figured it would be a good thing. Since joining I have lost 29 pounds so far and am looking forward to being smaller and wanting to be in smaller jeans. Heck one of my "wants" when I started was to fit into an old pair of jeans that were a size 15/16 slim cut, I'm currently a 11/12 and those jeans just hang now. I know I can make goal. Anything worthwhile takes time and I've got some to spare.
Here is a picture taken a year ago in my leather dress.
My husband took this one last week.
I have a blog that tells more about who I am and about the leather dress if y'all are interested.

MJ blogging for the first time ever

Alright!! I've finally created my account, e-mailed pics to Breanna, so I'm all set to start blogging now. :)

About me and my WW journey - I started WW in August of 2000 after having spent about six months losing weight on my own but felt that I needed something more structured. A friend brought me to WW and I immediately felt like it was something I could do. That's not to say I haven't struggled, lost motivation and plain fallen off the wagon along the way, but all in all, I have made the necessary life style changes that are needed to not gain it all back. I'm proud to say that I've lost 100 lbs and my goal is to say that I've lost 110. It's a number thing for me now, but I also know how great I feel at that weight (yes, I was there summer '06, but this fall and the holidays got the better of me), so it's what I'll be spending the next few of months working on. I have a plan and I know it's do-able!
